Michael B. Schwegler, Member

Michael B. Schwegler represents lenders, creditors and businesses in commercial and consumer transactions, regulatory compliance, real estate, bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters. Mike established MBSLaw, PLLC in 2018 after working with Ernie Williams for over eight years, first as an Associate, then as a Partner.

Mike has lengthy experience handling most types of commercial lending and residential real estate transactions, and has a particularly broad background litigating and trying cases in state and federal trial and appellate courts. Serving as both plaintiff’s and defense counsel, Mike has litigated cases in a variety of areas, including all manner of commercial and consumer lending disputes, insurance coverage, contract, Bankruptcy, personal injury, civil rights, municipal liability and administrative review matters.

Mike is licensed to appear before all Tennessee state trial and appellate courts, the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of Tennessee, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.  He is a member of the American Bar Association, Business Law Section, Banking Law and Consumer Financial Services Committees and the International Factoring Association, and is a current or former member of the Nashville Bar Association, Tennessee Bar Association, Tennessee Bankers Association and the Tennessee Association for Justice.

Before entering private practice, Mike was an Assistant Attorney General for the state of Tennessee, where he defended the state in civil rights, tort, state taxation and administrative review lawsuits in state and federal courts.

Mike graduated in 2002 from Vanderbilt University Law School, where he served as a Notes Editor on the Vanderbilt Journal of Entertainment and Technology Law, and from Miami University in 1999 with a B.A. in History and Diplomacy & Foreign Affairs. Mike was born in Cleveland, Ohio.

Lisa Rosado, Associate

Lisa M. Rosado represents clients in all of the Firm’s litigation and transactional practice areas.  Lisa is licensed to practice law in both Florida and Tennessee. Admitted into the Florida Bar in 2011 and having obtained Tennessee licensure in 2016, Lisa has broad experience in handling transactional matters for various types of business entities. Lisa also has litigation experience in both state and federal courts, including state appellate courts. She is admitted to the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida.

After receiving her undergraduate degree from Florida State University, Lisa received her juris doctorate from Barry University School of law in 2011. While in law school, Lisa was selected to participate in the School’s Children and Families clinic as a certified legal intern, where she represented children in delinquency and dependency proceedings. As part of the Children and Families clinic, she was one of the few selected to work on the Life Without Parole Project. Lisa was born in New York and grew up in Florida.

Ernest B. Williams IV, Of Counsel

Ernest B. Williams IV assists lenders and business people in transactions, regulatory matters, commercial transactions, commercial and consumer litigation.

After over 30 years representing lenders and businesses, Ernie moved to an Of Counsel role at MBSLaw, PLLC, in order to devote more of his time to charitable foundation work that he leads in developing countries, especially countries in Africa.

Ernie focuses on commercial transactions, including real estate transactions representing lenders, developers, and associations. He structures purchase and sale transactions in Bankruptcy settings and advises lenders concerning consumer lending regulations.

Ernie is licensed to appear before all Tennessee state trial and appellate courts, as well as the United States District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of Tennessee and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Ernie is a Member of the Association of Commercial Finance Attorneys, as well as the American Bar Association, Business Law Section, Commercial & Consumer Financial Services Committees, and has served on the Governing Committee of each, as well as Chair of the Consumer Bankruptcy Committee. He has a lengthy association with the Tennessee Bankers Association, and has served as Tennessee Editor for each of CarLaw and HouseLaw. He is a regular instructor for continuing legal education both in Tennessee and nationally, generally teaching on the subjects of Secured Transactions, Workouts, Real Estate and Commercial Finance, Consumer Regulation and RESPA.

Ernie has authored amendments to the United States Bankruptcy Code and various portions of the Tennessee Code Annotated, including the Industrial Loan and Thrift Companies Act, the Tennessee Home Loan Protection Act, and the mobile home title surrender statute.

Ernie earned his B.A. from Rhodes College, and earned his J.D. from Southern Methodist University. Ernie was born in Memphis, Tennessee.
